What Is Prayer

Prayer means talking to God in the way you can and understand; it’s sad to see how some tagged the word prayer like a big deal, our God is a loving father, not a monster. He needs us to speak or talk to him as simple as possible.

Prayer is not what you do at your leisure; it’s a lifestyle, your shouting won’t cause him to hear you though it’s not an offence or a sin to be loud.  “Jesus  cried with a loud voice Lazarus Come forth  We must not make it a habit that God only hears when we are loud Neither his ear heavy that he cannot hear” (Isaiah 59:1 The New King James Version)

In Psalms 5:3  (kjv) My voice shall thou hear in the morning, O Lord in the morning will I direct my prayer unto thee.

Honestly I believe that the psalmist here, was exhibiting what he projects as a lifestyle.

The word morning was used twice in this verse, indicating that this is regular or frequent not done at his leisure.

Prayer should be part of our lives not because we wanted something from God but because it’s in us to pray as children of God.

What is the purpose of prayer?

Every spoken word of God has a purpose; the question is what is the reason behind you praying, I  must confess that the word prayer is enormous and in classification.

It would be unreasonable to talk about purpose without individuality and perception,Unfortunately, we are in an era  where people instead would emulate their mentors than the one who by the spirit has to make provisions for us as such a time as this, motivational speakers, eloquence, has taken the place of knowledge, people are ready to follow you if you can deliver to feed their flesh.

Sorry didn’t mean to sound so spiritual; I wish my voice could be heard, scrutinise my write up to see through the lens of the faith we profess.

Proverbs 15:22 Without counsel purposes are disappointed;

Your basis for doing a thing is best known to you. However, the outcome might   affect others sometimes without counsel purposes are disappointed is an excellent example in this context, no one wants disappointing efforts, our purpose of praying is not far-fetched,

For everyone that  asks receives   and he who seeks finds, to him who knocks it Wll be open. (Matthew 7:8,The New King James version)

what man is there among you who if his son asks for bread will give him a stone? Matthew 7:9 (NKJV)

Just as you have spoken in my hearing so I will do you. in other words not only does  Gods ears us when we pray or talk to him but he also respond or answers, he’s a speaking God(Numbers 14:28)NKJV

He who planted the ear shall he not hear? It’s not wrong to pray with expectations don’t be alarmed you are on track it doesn’t devalue you neither would you be tagged faithless

I remember years back I’d ask someone to make an opening prayer in one of our meetings, in the cause of the prayers he said o Lord incline your ears unto our prayers, someone challenged him that it was wrong to have prayed in that manner for its like you are commanding or instructing him.

It took me some weeks to explain why that should n’t be an issue. Remember my definition of what prayer is  The psalmist used some of the following phrases, attend unto my prayers, hear my cry oh Lord if I have found favour in your sight.

All this I believe came from a place in his heart that sometimes he has words to explain, prayer is merely talking to God, it could be done on our knees, seating, standing.

Pastor Joseph prince once said when you believe right you will do the right thing.

Apostle Paul said in Ephesians 3:14 (NKJV) For this reason I bow my knees to the father

Hannah  said to prophet Eli  I am the woman who stood by you here praying to the lord,in( 1 Samuel 1:26) NKJV

When Solomon had finished praying all this prayer and supplication to the lord, that he arose from the before the altar of the Lord, from kneeling on his knees with his hands spread up to heaven,(1 king 8:54) NKJV

And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a mighty rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting(Acts 2:2) NKJV

The bible says our expectation shall not be cut off when we pray is not wrong to expect manifestations of what we have prayed for, the psalmist said in Psalms 55 that his expectation is from him God.

The aim and purpose of praying is not just to ask God for things he’s also giving us the power of decree things and come to past

He gave us power against unclean spirits that takes me to a famous verse of the scripture that most of us quote when talking or teaching about faith.

In Mark 11;23 (NKJV) whoever says to this mountain, removed and be cast into the sea. And does not doubt in his heart, but believe that those things he says, shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he says

You have the power to speak to things or even people, and it would come to past note if you doubt not in your heart.

God’s word is so glaring that whatever we ask when we pray we must believe we have received and we shall have them.

Please believe in your words because he honours his word more than his name, may God help you understand and be sincere as you read this article for we serve such an awesome God.
